CBC Stage began in 1944 under producer Andrew Allan and ran for three decades on the Trans-Canada network. Only scattered productions survive in public hands, including a two-part Sweeney Todd, Heart of Darkness, and a 1949 Moby Dick with Lorne Greene as Ahab.
