We go back to the beginning and read everything again.

1947–1949 · Mutual, then ABC
One writer, one voice, one microphone
After Lights Out, Wyllis Cooper stripped everything away. Quiet, Please has no orchestra beyond a single organ, essentially one actor, and a narrator who talks to the listener in the second person as though the two of you were the only people awake. It ran two years on a shoestring at Mutual, won awards nobody in the industry expected, and is now routinely named by writers as the best-written series American radio produced. Because it was so cheaply made, almost all of it survives.

Three interviews, one archive reel, and a question nobody wanted asked.

The episode listeners keep sending to people who never listen to podcasts.

A quiet beginning that turns, halfway through, into something else entirely.

The one everybody argues about.

Short, complete and unexpectedly devastating.
